Fake perfume is a real problem in Trinidad & Tobago, especially with popular names like Dior Sauvage, Creed Aventus, Lattafa Khamrah and Baccarat Rouge 540. Fakes can smell close at first, but they fade fast and some can irritate the skin. Here's how to protect yourself.
1. The price is too good to be true
This is the biggest warning sign. If a designer perfume sells for a fraction of its normal price, it is almost certainly not authentic. Compare against our designer perfume price guide.
2. Check the packaging
- Authentic boxes are made of sturdy card with sharp, clean printing and no spelling mistakes.
- The cellophane wrap should be tight and neatly folded, not loose or melted at the seams.
- The batch code on the bottom of the box should match the code on the bottle.
3. Look at the bottle
- Genuine bottles are smooth and evenly made, with no bubbles in the glass or crooked labels.
- The sprayer should give a fine, even mist rather than a squirt.
- The cap should fit snugly and feel solid.
4. Smell and longevity
Fakes often smell sharp or alcoholic at the start and disappear within an hour. An authentic fragrance develops over time, from the top notes through to a lasting base.
5. Buy from a trusted seller
Buy from sellers who clearly state their products are authentic, list real contact details, and stand behind what they sell. At Kerizz Fragrance Dorm every fragrance is 100% authentic and sealed. If anything arrives damaged or incorrect, we'll make it right under our refund policy.
